Computable predicts definitive breakthrough for SaaS in 2008

Software as a Service (SaaS) will see a definitive breakthrough this year.

Software as a Service (SaaS) will see a definitive breakthrough this year. Dutch ICT magazine Computable believes the advantages of the implementation model will become apparent to an even wider audience, resulting in large-scale use. Members of the Computable Panel made the prediction in a preview for the year 2008.

Easy Order® has been successfully available in ASP (Application Service Provider) since 2001; over ninety percent of the 550 plus Easy Order® customers use the web shop in this implementation model, which evolved into SaaS in recent years. Both ASP and SaaS offer companies important advantages like maintainability, scalability and flexibility. According to Computable "more providers will go down the same road in future."

The breakthrough for SaaS is partly due to the fact that, increasingly, applications are only available on the basis of SaaS. Google and SalesForce applications are a good example of this phenomenon. One of the Computable panel members comments: "ICT managers find more and more often that, as a result of more complex demands, the maintenance of their own infrastructure and applications becomes too much of a challenge given that their budgets are not increased correspondingly."
